Durban – Former Bidvest Wits winger Phakamani Mahlambi is being assessed by head coach Gavin Hunt at Durban City FC as he attempts to revive his professional football career.
The 27-year-old has been away from top-level football for more than three years. Mahlambi’s career has faced challenges since his 2017 move to Egyptian club Al Ahly, followed by a return to South Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns and a loan spell at Chippa United.
Hunt and Mahlambi previously worked together during the 2016/17 season at Bidvest Wits, where Mahlambi played a key role in the club’s title-winning campaign, scoring seven goals.
