Matsapha- The Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) says its operations remained under scrutiny
from several oversight institutions during the period it operated without a governing board.
This was revealed by the Chief Exexutive Officer of ENPF Futhi Tembe during the Catsatsa Sikuwe
campaing in Matsapha on Friday.
The CEO said the institution had several layers of oversight, including the Auditor General, internal
auditors, external auditors and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), which continued to
monitor its operations and financial controls.
She explained that the Auditor General conducted an audit at the beginning of the year and confirmed
that the institution’s affairs were in order.
In addition to the external scrutiny, the ENPF’s internal audit function conducts quarterly assessments of
the institution’s controls, identifying any deficiencies that require attention.
The CEO said whenever weaknesses were identified during these audits, the institution ensured that
they were addressed.
She further noted that the ENPF’s financial year ends in June, after which external auditors are expected
to conduct their assessments. The institution also undergoes audits by the FSRA as part of the regulatory
oversight of its operations.
According to the CEO, these oversight mechanisms provide continued checks on the institution, ensuring
that its operations remain in order despite the absence of a governing board during the period in
question.
On the security of members’ contributions, she assured members that their money remained safe,
saying the institution continued to uphold integrity in its operations.
She said the ENPF had established policies and procedures, which guide its operations, adding that the
institution remained committed to protecting members’ funds.
The CEO also commended ENPF employees for their continued efforts in keeping the institution
operational, particularly during the period when it had no governing board.
The assurance comes as the ENPF reflects on its 50-year existence, having celebrated its golden jubilee
last year.
