MBABANE – Royal Leopard demonstrated a powerful and decisive attack, securing their place in the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup quarterfinals after a commanding 3-1 victory over Amawele FC. 

While several matches were decided by tense penalty shootouts, Royal Leopard stood out by winning with pure goal-scoring prowess, making a strong statement in the tournament. 

Thikithi Dlamini, the undoubtedly star of the match, found the back of the net twice. His first goal came just before the halftime whistle, breaking the deadlock in the 46th minute. 

Dlamini continued his relentless pressure, scoring a second one to extend Royal Leopard’s lead. The final nail in the coffin was struck by Thembisa Shabangu, who sealed the 3-1 win with a late goal, showcasing the depth of the team’s offensive talent.

This impressive performance sets Royal Leopard up for a compelling quarterfinal clash against Green Mamba. The win against Amawele FC, which saw Royal Leopard avoid the high-stakes uncertainty of a penalty shootout, highlights their clinical finishing and strategic advantage on the field.

The 8Bet Trade Fair Cup Last 16 saw several other teams advance. Moneni Pirates narrowly defeated Sisonkhe with a 3-2 victory in a penalty shootout, while Ubombo Sugar also advanced after a similar tense affair against Sisonkhe, winning 4-2 on penalties. 

Young Buffaloes secured a 3-2 penalty shootout win against Malanti Chiefs, and Mbabane Highlanders AM defeated by Ezulwini United 2-0.

In another decisive match, Green Mamba overcame Manzini Wanderers 2-0. Mbabane Swallows also emerged victorious, winning 2-1 on penalties against Manzini Sea Birds. 

Looking ahead to the quarterfinals today at Mavuso Sports Centre, Nsingizini Hotspurs will face off against Malanti Chiefs, followed by Ubombo Sugar against Ezulwini United. 

Royal Leopard will take on Green Mamba, while Moneni Pirates will challenge Manzini Sea Birds, all vying for a spot in the semifinals.
