Mbabane: The minister of Natural Resources and Energy Peter Bhembe has on Wednesday unveiled new Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA) board which is led by the Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE) General Manager Operations (GMO) Lungile Dlamini.
The eight-member board was announced by the minister at the Mountain Inn hotel. The new board members are Lungile Dlamini (Chairperson), Qhakazile Dlamini (Deputy Chairperson), Zanele Mlambo (Member), Luke Mswane (Member), Susan Mordant(Member), Mandla Vilakati (Member), Chief Maliwa Maziya (Member), and Chief Mshikashika Ngcamphalala (Member).
The minister said the board has a combination of youthful and seasoned people who have extensive experience in both the public and private sectors.
The Minister entrusted the Board to ensure energy security, make energy affordable and sustainable as well as ensure the timely delivery of the 40MW solar power generation and 40MW biomass projects, among others.
Minister Bhembe said energy security is also about ensuring affordable access to power for all emaSwati while maintaining the integrity and sustainability of the sector. These appointments come at a perfect time when ESERA will soon be developing a new strategic plan for the next 3 years and becoming a fully-fledged energy regulator.
Making her remarks the new Board Chairperson Lungile Dlamini promised that as a Board, they will uphold the values of good Governance as we execute our duties. She further promised that they will always be accessible and engaging to ESERA management and staff in executing their mandate.”
