EFA have reported the suspension of football to CAF

Mbabane – Eswatini Football Association have reported to continental mother body about the two weeks long football suspension in the country. This was revealed by EFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu on Monday morning during the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services EBIS popular programme Sports Show.

Football is then suspended for two weeks since last Friday due the second wave of COVID-19. Government have noted the high rising numbers of positive cases and decided suspend all football activities in the country. As of now the beautiful game remain suspended up until government review the situation and a green light to resume.

‘’As a member of the continental mother body, the country has reported the suspension to the Confederation of African Football (CAF)’’ said Mngomezulu. He also said that as an organization they are also worried as Young Buffaloes has to play international two legged football round next month in CAF Confederation where they were draw against Etoile from Tunisia.

The first leg will be played in Manzini at the Mavuso Sport Centre on Valentine’s Day with the returning match scheduled two weeks later in Tunisia. Mngomezulu mentioned that it would be good for Buffaloes to play competitive football as part of their preparations but unfortunately game have been suspended and players will train on their own for a couple of weeks.

Football in country was suspended last year when COVID-19 pandemic affects the country and then it was given the green light by government resume on December 12 which was the mark of the starts of the two top flight football in the country.
