Mbabane: Saturday’s eagerly awaited Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) executive elections did not happen.

Government’s regulations around Covid-19 on two hours or less gathering time saw the big meet pushed to next Saturday. The PLE held its Annual General Meeting on Saturday at Happy Valley Hotel, Ezulwini but the last two and most important items on the agenda were not deliberated nor put to bed. These two items are to adopt the audited financial statements and elect the new chairman and members of the PLE executive.

Addressing members of the media after the meeting was adjourned, PLE Chief Operations Officer Pat Mazibuko said, “the meeting will continue where it ended at this very same place next Saturday at 10am”.
Consuming much of the time PLE Board of Governors were critical with incumbent chairman Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula’s report as he touched on financials in his summary amid allegations of money laundering reported by the Times of Eswatini, a matter which is currently with the police.

Vilakati finished presenting the organisation’s activity report.
“Delegates agreed that we ask for more than the stipulated two hours in the next meeting.”
This was after Royal Leopard moved a motion to adjourn the meeting seeing that the two hours had elapsed, a move that was seconded by Tambuti and Tambankulu Callies, later adopted by the assembly.
