Mbabane – Nsingizini Hotspurs are set to play their first-ever CAF Champions League match away against Simba Bhora in Botswana.
The club’s Public Relations Officer, Sibusiso ‘Mnotfo’ Dlamini, confirmed the news after the team participated in a pre-season tournament against Zimbabwean champions from September 19 to 21.
Dlamini said the squad has been training intensively, including five preparatory games, one against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns. He noted that preparations go beyond domestic competitions, with the team focused on performing strongly in their upcoming CAF fixtures.
Nsingizini Hotspurs currently lead the local league with 53 points from 26 games after a 3-1 win over Kwekwe United. Forward Isascar Gurirab has also received a call-up to the Namibian national team for FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Malawi and São Tomé and Príncipe.
The CAF Champions League match will be played in Botswana to meet tournament regulations. The Hotspurs will return home for a league clash against Greenfuel and then face Tambankulu Celtics in the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup. The club has arranged transport to take supporters to Botswana for the historic away game.
