Eswatini Air is celebrating its second anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s aviation sector. The national carrier has played a crucial role in improving connectivity, boosting tourism, and contributing to the country’s economic growth since its inception.
In just two years, Eswatini Air has created over 100 direct jobs, with additional employment opportunities emerging across the airline’s supply chain and related industries. The impact extends beyond job creation, as the airline enhances accessibility, facilitates trade, and attracts foreign investment.
The airline’s rapid progress was acknowledged in 2023 when it received the Best-Improved Intra-Africa Connectivity award from the African Airlines Association (AFRAA). This recognition underscores Eswatini Air’s growing influence in the regional aviation market and its commitment to service excellence.
Despite concerns over high maintenance costs, industry experts, including the Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporation (RENAC), have emphasized the long-term benefits of developing in-house maintenance capabilities. RENAC has assured stakeholders that investments in local expertise and strategic negotiations with equipment manufacturers will lead to financial sustainability and operational efficiency in the coming years.
Eswatini Air’s affordability has also garnered public praise, with passengers expressing appreciation for the airline’s competitive fares and quality service. Positive remarks from lawmakers further reflect confidence in the airline’s potential, with senators commending its efforts to navigate challenges and expand its reach.
Currently operating routes to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and Harare, Eswatini Air is set to introduce flights to Lusaka, Zambia, signaling further expansion.
