Mbabane – Two Botswana nationals have been remanded in police custody after appearing before the Mbabane Magistrate’s Court on charges of being in Eswatini illegally and possessing explosive material allegedly linked to ongoing robbery investigations in the Hhohho Region.
Joseph Tshimologo, 44, of Gaborone, and Boipuso Jabulani Keagile, 48, of Serowe, appeared before Senior Magistrate Sfiso Vilakati on June 24.
The pair face two charges arising from their arrest in the Bethusile Street area of Mbabane on June 23.
According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly entered and remained in Eswatini without valid permits or licences, in contravention of Section 14(2)(c) of the Immigration Act of 1982.
The second charge relates to the alleged possession of explosive material. The State alleges that the two men were found in possession of nonel tubing, an explosive device component, without a valid permit or licence, contrary to Section 67 of the Explosives Act of 1961.
During court proceedings, the Crown informed the court that investigations were ongoing and that police were probing a number of robberies committed in the northern parts of the Hhohho Region where explosives had allegedly been used.
The prosecution submitted that further investigations were still underway and requested that the accused remain in police custody.
Senior Magistrate Vilakati granted the application and remanded the two men in custody until June 29, 2026.
