After concluding a two-day investment engagement in Malawi, Mitrick Global Chief Executive Officer Ambassador Enock Mangirande is expected to turn his attention to Eswatini, where he has already pledged to facilitate a proposed US$5 billion (about E89 billion) investment initiative aimed at transforming key sectors of the country’s economy.
Mangirande wrapped up his Malawi visit with a high-level meeting with Acting President and Second Vice President Enoch Chihana in Lilongwe. The discussions centred on investment cooperation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, economic transformation and strategic partnerships designed to accelerate Malawi’s development.
according to a press release, during the meeting, Mangirande praised the administration of Peter Mutharika for prioritising economic reforms, infrastructure development and private sector participation, while reiterating Mitrick Global’s commitment to mobilising international investors into African economies.
Attention is now expected to shift to Eswatini, where Mangirande recently announced plans to facilitate a US$5 billion investment package. According to his public statements, the proposed investment is expected to target strategic sectors including infrastructure, housing, manufacturing, energy, agriculture and tourism, with the objective of creating jobs, attracting foreign direct investment and supporting long-term economic growth.
Mangirande has also publicly indicated that he has engaged senior Eswatini leaders, including Prince Lindani Dlamini, on investment opportunities in housing and urban development, describing Eswatini as an economy with significant potential for infrastructure expansion and private sector investment.
If realised, the proposed investment would rank among the largest private investment commitments ever announced for Eswatini, potentially complementing the country’s ongoing drive to attract foreign capital into productive sectors and stimulate sustainable economic growth. However, details regarding the funding structure, implementation timelines and specific projects have yet to be officially announced.
