Ezulwini – MTN Eswatini has appointed Pan-African telecommunications executive Jerry Soko as its Chief Executive Officer, placing an experienced industry leader at the helm of the business.
Effective on 01 July 2026, the appointment sees Soko, who brings more than two decades of leadership experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector across Southern and Eastern Africa, take permanent charge of one of Eswatini’s leading telecommunications companies.
Announcing the appointment, MTN Eswatini Board Chairperson Nompumelelo Dlamini said Soko’s leadership over the past several months had positioned the business for continued growth while strengthening its role in Eswatini’s digital ecosystem.
She said the Board was confident in his ability to build on the progress achieved during his tenure as Acting CEO.
“Jerry has demonstrated strong, steady leadership during his time as Acting CEO. His ability to execute with discipline, strengthen operational performance and keep customers at the centre of the business has been instrumental in reinforcing MTN Eswatini’s position. We are confident that under his leadership, the business will continue to deliver on its strategic priorities and support Eswatini’s digital future,” she said.
A qualified accountant by profession, Soko has held Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer positions within the MTN Group in Zambia, Botswana, Rwanda and South Sudan. He also serves on several boards across the continent as a non-executive director, bringing extensive executive and governance experience to the role.
During his seven months as Acting CEO, Soko led initiatives focused on strengthening network competitiveness, improving customer experience and enhancing operational discipline. He also championed strategic partnerships that support Eswatini’s digital transformation agenda while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and talent development within the organisation.
His confirmation as substantive CEO provides leadership continuity for MTN Eswatini as the company continues implementing its long-term strategy of expanding digital services, investing in network infrastructure and improving customer experience.
With extensive leadership experience gained across multiple African markets, Soko now assumes the role permanently at a time when telecommunications companies are increasingly driving digital connectivity, financial inclusion and technology-led economic growth.
