MBABANE – The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) has officially unveiled Team Eswatini for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, confirming a 17-member delegation that will represent the country at the global sporting event scheduled for 23 July to 2 August 2026.
The announcement was made on Tuesday morning during a press briefing held at the EOCGA headquarters, where President Adam “Bomber” Mtsetfwa presented the team alongside Chief Executive Officer, board members, and members of the media.
The squad comprises 10 athletes, supported by four coaches, a physiotherapist, and team leadership personnel, all tasked with ensuring Eswatini’s competitive presence across multiple sporting codes.
Leadership of the delegation will be spearheaded by Zakhele Dlamini as Chef de Mission, with Zama Tsabedze serving as General Team Manager, while Lungile Vilakati will provide medical support as the team physiotherapist.
In swimming, Eswatini will be represented by Hayley Hoy, Siwakhile Dlamini, and Damien DeSousa under coach Ndumiso Khoza.
The boxing contingent includes Mukelo Dlamini and Siboniso Vilakati, coached by Douglas Simelane.
In judo, Lamulela Magagula will carry the national flag under coach Mashumi Sihlongonyane.
The athletics team features Mlandvo Maziya, Thandaza Zwane, Bongumuzi Matsebula, Bongiwe Mahlalela, and veteran sprinter Sibusiso Matsenjwa in a coaching role.
EOCGA officials said the selection reflects a balance of emerging talent and experienced athletes aimed at strengthening Eswatini’s performance on the international stage.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth in a multi-sport competition expected to attract global attention and high-level competition.
Officials at the EOCGA encouraged the nation to rally behind the team, expressing confidence that the athletes will gain valuable experience and strive for strong performances against some of the world’s best competitors in Glasgow as preparations intensify ahead of the Games scheduled to be highly competitive and historic edition.
