Mbabane – South African businessman Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala has claimed that he was a guest at His Majesty the King’s birthday celebration, but the Office of the Monarchy has denied any record of such an invitation, according to a report by The Times.
Percy Simelane, the spokesperson for the Monarchy, responded to these claims, clarifying that Queen Ntombi Tfwala had no connection to Matlala and did not invite him to the event. Simelane explained that while the Monarchy does not have any official record of Matlala’s invitation, it is possible he may have been invited by others close to the royal family, or even without the knowledge of the country’s authorities. He further added that invitations to such events are typically handled directly by the host or high-ranking officials.
“Not all invitation cards come from Lozitha Palace or Ludzidzini, where the Indlovukazi resides. For example, ministers are given bundles of invitations to distribute to their family and friends. There are also cases where invitations may fall into undeserving hands,” Simelane said.
