MALKERNS – Prime Minister Russell Dlamini has challenged the MTN Bushfire Festival to double its contribution to Eswatini’s economy from the current E121.2 million.
The PM cited the event’s growing role in tourism promotion and economic development.Speaking during a “Bring Your Fire” interview on the opening day of the festival in Malkerns yesterday, Dlamini praised the internationally acclaimed event for its remarkable growth and its ability to attract thousands of visitors to the Kingdom every year.
He said the festival had become a key driver of tourism, contributing to Eswatini’s broader ambition of attracting five million tourists annually.
The Prime Minister noted that beyond entertainment, the festival was creating meaningful economic opportunities for emaSwati by providing a platform for craft traders and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) to showcase and sell their products to both local and international visitors.
Dlamini commended the organisers for building an event that not only celebrates arts and culture but also stimulates economic activity and promotes Eswatini as a tourism destination.
He encouraged the festival to continue expanding its reach and impact, expressing confidence that it could significantly increase its contribution to the national economy in the years ahead.
