MALKERNS – Thousands of music lovers and tourists descended on House On Fire on Friday as the 19th edition of the MTN Bushfire Festival officially got underway in the Malkerns Valley.
The internationally acclaimed festival immediately came alive as crowds streamed through the gates, creating a vibrant atmosphere that has become synonymous with the annual event.
Visitors travelled from various corners of the world to attend the three-day festival. Among those spotted at the venue were tourists from Italy, New Zealand and Germany, highlighting Bushfire’s growing international appeal.
It was reported that more than 5,000 campers had already pitched their tents around the venue, turning the surrounding area into a temporary village of music enthusiasts eager to immerse themselves in the Bushfire experience.
The influx of visitors is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy, with accommodation establishments, restaurants, transport operators and vendors benefiting from increased business during the festival period.
Attendees spent the opening day exploring the festival grounds, visiting craft markets, enjoying food stalls and taking in performances across the various stages.
Many visitors described the atmosphere as welcoming and unique, with the event continuing to attract both first-time attendees and loyal Bushfire supporters who return year after year.
Running from May 29 to 31, the festival remains one of Eswatini’s biggest tourism attractions and is widely recognised for bringing together people from different cultures through music, art and social engagement.
The crowds are expected to grow even larger over the weekend as headline performances take centre stage.
