MOCÍMBA DA PRAIA, Mozambique – Major General Emmy K. Ruvusha, who led the Rwanda Security Forces in Cabo Delgado Province, concluded his one-year deployment on Friday and officially handed over command to Major General Vincent Gatama.
The handover ceremony at the RSF Headquarters in Mocímboa da Praia brought together both commanders and their teams. During the event, Ruvusha and Gatama expressed gratitude to the outgoing contingent for their service and accomplishments over the past year.
Under Ruvusha’s command, the forces made notable progress in counter-terrorism operations, reclaiming several areas previously held by armed groups. These efforts enabled many internally displaced families to safely return to their communities.
The Rwandan contingent also trained the first group of Mozambique Armed Defence Forces soldiers in an advanced infantry course. They worked closely with Mozambican defence and security forces and engaged with local communities to strengthen trust and cooperation.
