Mbabane – The government is mourning the death of Her Royal Highness Princess Lindiwe, Minister of Home Affairs, who passed away in Eswatini following a short illness.
The Government announced her death yesterday, saying the Princess had been receiving medical care in the country when she died.
Princess Lindiwe had served as Minister of Home Affairs since 2018, making her a member of Cabinet for eight years. Government described her as a devoted public servant who carried out her responsibilities with commitment to the welfare of the people.
Her service to the Crown and the Kingdom was characterised by what Government described as dignity, integrity and compassion.
The statement said her death had left a loss across different spheres of national life, describing her as a valued Cabinet colleague, a spiritual leader in the Church and a faithful servant of the nation.
Beyond her ministerial duties, Princess Lindiwe was known for her Christian faith and spiritual leadership. Affectionately known as Umkhokheli, she provided spiritual guidance and encouragement to many people.
Government said her humility, kindness and strength of character had touched those around her and that her contribution to the Kingdom would be remembered with gratitude.
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini extended condolences to His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Royal Family, Princess Lindiwe’s relatives, colleagues and those who knew and worked alongside her.
Further details on the funeral and related arrangements will be announced by Government in due course.
