Nokwane: Eswatini top Army Commander Jeffrey Shababala has tendered his resignation to His Majesty King Mswati III. The Army commander resigned after serving in the top position in the year 2018.
Historical he is the first top army commander to resign in the country. He took over from the retired General former Army commander Sobantu Dlamini.
He resigned in the height of political unrest in the country where they were allegation of brutality to the civilians in the country from the country security clusters.
Shabalala announced his resignation today during a press conference held at the Army Headquarters at Nokwane.
Before being appointed he was the deputy commander from 2003, his then main duties were the administration of the whole Defence Force i.e. making sure that: all instructions/directives, issued to all Heads of Branch, are actioned, as per; throughout the year.
Moreover, his duties include, among others, the individual progressive training or, rather career development for all Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Enlisted men/women; in the entire Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF).
The resigned Army commander joined the army in 1979.
