Church of the Nazareth (Shembe) member, Dumisa Tsabedze

Mananga: A controversial Church of the Nazareth (Shembe) member, Dumisa Tsabedze, has alleged that Jesus has returned and is living within the mountains of Mananga in the northern part of Lubombo region.

Tsabedze claims to have a good and sound mental health, when asked if his mind functions properly, pertaining to his claim.

Tsabedze is the same man who in 2015 appeared in this very newspaper claiming to be preparing and constructing a palace, where the returning Son of God will stay upon return. He claimed that the return of the Son of God would be in a form of heavy rains. He was found by this very same reporter within the mountain, sweating and hard at work, digging a rocky surface trying to construct an earth dam where he claims would be the place where Jesus will stay upon return.

On October 13, 2020, this reporter paid Tsabedze a visit after he requested that I should come meet him as he has good news to share. Upon arrival at Tsambokhulu Mountain where he was found clearing a portion,  cutting down trees and putting together different sizes of stones, Tsabedze cheerfully welcomed this reporter and quickly told me boldly: “Ubuyile Jesu, mane anikavumeleki kutsi nimbone usendzaweni yakhe yekuphumula ngitonatisa nasalungele kubonwa. Wonkhe umhlaba utawukumbona, yatisani umhlaba ngaleti tindzaba letimnandzi nakangaka.”  This can be loosely translated to “Jesus has returned but you are not allowed to see him now. He is at his resting place and you would be told when you can come see him. The whole world will eventually see him and go and tell the whole world about the good news”

When pressed further about what he was saying, he said the return of Christ was kept very top secret, stating that it’s only him who saw the event of his return. He also claimed to have accompanied him to his current place of abode, which he said its somewhere around Mananga Mountain. Additionally, Tsabedze showed us around where he was found, saying the clearing of the area was due to that he has been ordered by Christ himself to build a temple.

The temple is where Christ will settle with his people on full time basis, as where Christ is currently living was on a temporary basis. Worth noting, Tsabedze would now and again tell us that some people think he is crazy and he isn’t paying much attention to them, advising this reporter to also do same and not buy into such talks. He vowed that soon, at some point, everybody would realise what he talks about.

Members of the community who were engaged over Tsabedze’s controversial claim and if he was of sound health, they confirmed that the man is of sound mind according to their knowledge. One community member even mentioned that Tsabedze is a board member of the community’s sugarcane scheme, which is enough to prove he is of good and sound mind.

Christ is said to be currently living in a dam at Mananga Mountain, which Tsabedze say was built by him also. This reporter wanted to know what kind of Christ he talks of that lives in water, Tsabedze responded by saying: “Christ currently is in a form of a spirit which he too can’t understand. He assured this reporter that once the palace is completed, everyone will have opportunity to see and live with him, as he will then transform to a human being.

“Ye Vilane, siyakhuluma nenkosi tsine ephusheni, ayicaci kahle kwamanje kutsi ikanjani kepha nje ingekukamoya, kuyawutsi kungaphela nali tempeli layo, iyawubese iyavela ngokwenyama umhlaba uyibone” he said.

He claims he was given the permission and authority to construct the Godly palace and also to safeguard Christs welfare was given to him by God himself through different dreams.

Seriously requested to come clean on whether the Christ he talks of is a snake or other earthly god, the now obviously furious Tsabedze got high and began to be sceptical with the truth, saying if this reporter no longer wants to ask anything must go. He affirmed he wasn’t interested in discussing unfounded questions which he can’t even understand where this reporter drew them from. “Libito lalesigodlo senkosi lesakhiwako kuse Kuphumuleni, kulapho inkosi iyophumula khona mayehla laphaya entsabeni, konkhe loku ngikutfola emaphushweni mangikhulumisana nalomuntfu lomudzala.  Lombuto wakho longibelesela ngawo ngiyawuva mane angiwati lokutsi uwuchamukisaphi ngoba lana sikhuluma ngenkosi yasezulwini. Akusiyo inyoka lena lokukhulunywa ngayo, yiyekele lentfo yekubuta letintfo leto” vituperated Tsabedze.

The intensive questioning of Tsabedze by this reporter, seemed to have raised Tsabedze’s emotions as he couldn’t cope well with the answering. Asked if the good news of christs’s arrival and his abode spot had been communicated to his church elders, the obviously lugubrious Tsabedze responded as thus; “Angikatjeli muntfu futsi kangifuni muntfu ete lana nguloyo naloyo akabuke litoho laniketwe lona mazulu. Ngiyabonga mfana wami songakhululeka, muningi umsebenti.” This reporter was left seated while Tsabedze left to continue with clearing of the forest.
