Mbabane –Eswatini is ready to welcome thousands of athletes, officials and supporters as the country prepares to host the 20th SAIMSA Games, with more than 7,000 participants expected to descend on the Kingdom for the regional sporting spectacle.
The games will bring together athletes and officials representing 60 municipalities, with competition spread across 12 sporting codes at venues located in Mavuso, Matsapha, Kwaluseni, Malkerns, Lobamba, Ezulwini and Mbabane.
The hosting of the prestigious games is expected to put Eswatini’s sporting facilities and organisational capacity under the spotlight as athletes battle for honours across different sporting disciplines.
With more than 7,000 athletes, officials and supporters expected to attend, the event is also set to create a hive of activity across the country, particularly in the towns and communities hosting the various competitions.
The 12 sporting codes will be staged across several venues, giving municipalities and supporters an opportunity to experience a wide range of sporting action throughout the games.
The distribution of events across Mavuso, Matsapha, Kwaluseni, Malkerns, Lobamba, Ezulwini and Mbabane is expected to ensure that the games reach different parts of the country while showcasing Eswatini as a capable host for major sporting events.
For the participating municipalities, the games will provide an opportunity for athletes to compete at a high level while promoting sporting talent, teamwork and unity.
