Mbabane – Government revenue can now be paid at selected post offices as authorities move services to the Eswatini Revenue Service, Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg said.
Rijkenberg told his weekly Finance in Focus briefing that the Manzini and Mbabane post offices are already processing revenue payments, with more locations to open in the coming weeks. The arrangement follows an agreement between the Eswatini Revenue Service and the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation.
The Minister said the shift is part of a transition to decentralise revenue services, improve accessibility and reduce congestion at traditional offices. Early technical challenges during the rollout have been resolved, he added.
Once post offices are fully equipped, government plans to close the remaining revenue offices. Digital payment options are also being expanded, allowing citizens to pay using mobile phones or computers without visiting an office.
Rijkenberg said weekly updates will be provided as more post offices come online. He urged households to plan for January expenses, including school fees, and to budget carefully during the festive season to avoid financial strain.
