Matsapha – The Ministry of Health has received anti-malaria medicines worth E500 000 from the End Malaria Fund (EMF) as the country enters its peak malaria season. The donation was handed over on Wednesday by EMF Director Steven Mthethwa at the Central Medical Stores (CMS).
Health Minister, Mduduzi Matsebula, said the consignment arrives at a crucial period, with increased travel expected during the festive season and a rising demand for malaria chemoprevention. He noted that the medicines will support treatment needs for severe cases and help the ministry stay ready for the seasonal surge.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Health, I extend our heartfelt appreciation to the End Malaria Fund board and all its partners for unwavering support to our fight against malaria,” he said.
Matsebula added that many citizens will be travelling to malaria-endemic areas in the coming weeks, increasing exposure risks. “This donation comes at the right time to ensure we are prepared for the season and to ensure that nobody dies from malaria in Eswatini,” he said.
