Mbabane – Eswatini. Civil servants will receive their December salaries on the regular payday this year, Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg confirmed, citing cash flow limitations that prevent early disbursement during the festive season.
Government officials explained that the standard civil service pay run will take place on 20 December for permanent employees, while temporary and daily-paid staff will receive theirs on 23 December.
While early salary payments have been issued in December and January in previous years to ease festive financial pressures, authorities said this year’s cash flow situation makes it impossible to advance payments for December.
Rijkenberg assured that January salaries will still be issued early, with improved cash flow expected at the start of the year. The early payment in January is intended to assist civil servants with school-related expenses as the new academic term begins.
