Mbabane – The Kingdom of Eswatini has received five ambulances from the Republic of Korea, marking a significant milestone in the growing diplomatic relationship between the two nations. The vehicles were handed over on 14 November 2025 in a ceremony at the Ministry of Justice, attended by South Korea’s Ambassador to Eswatini, H.E. Mr. Kang Bokwon, Minister of Justice Prince Simelane, and Commissioner General LaMakhosini of the Eswatini Correctional Services.
The donation is part of a broader partnership aimed at improving public health services in the Kingdom. The ambulances are expected to bolster the country’s emergency medical services, particularly within the correctional system, ensuring that medical care is more accessible for inmates and other vulnerable groups.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Pholile Dlamini Shakantu, expressed her appreciation for the donation, noting that this act of goodwill speaks to the strong and growing relationship between Eswatini and South Korea. “South Korea’s contribution to the Kingdom’s health infrastructure is invaluable. It reflects a commitment to not only enhancing healthcare but also strengthening the overall welfare of our people,” she said.
South Korea’s support to Eswatini extends beyond health services. Through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), South Korea has been a key partner in advancing Eswatini’s development, focusing on sectors such as education, agriculture, and governance. KOICA’s initiatives in capacity building and digitalisation have helped further Eswatini’s development goals, improving local infrastructure and services across the Kingdom.

The handover of the ambulances came just one day after three new ambassadors presented their credentials to His Majesty King Mswati III, including Ambassador Kang of South Korea. The other new ambassadors, H.E. Ms. Noralyn Jubaira Baja of the Philippines and H.E. Mr. Tomas Ulieny of the Czech Republic, are also expected to foster stronger diplomatic ties with Eswatini.
