Nhlangano – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade has confirmed that the new Jonsson Workwear factory in Nhlangano is almost ready for operation, with only final adjustments underway before production begins.
Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo met with Jonsson Workwear’s Head of Manufacturing, Marnie Gerber, to review progress. The 20 000-square-metre plant is in its final construction phase and preparing to transition into full production.
The factory is expected to strengthen Eswatini’s manufacturing sector and expand economic opportunities in the Shiselweni region. Once fully operational in the coming years, the facility is projected to create up to 2 000 jobs. During construction, about 200 workers were employed.
Khumalo noted that the project aligns with national efforts to drive industrial development and stimulate economic activity, with government support continuing as Jonsson Workwear moves toward commissioning the factory.
