MBABANE – Eswatini is set to welcome South African viral traditional dancer Mavusane Cyzweh, popularly known as Butsegetsege, as he headlines the upcoming Kagogo Weekend at The Destination Ezulwini on Saturday, October 3.
The cultural-themed event, presented by The Destination, is expected to blend traditional entertainment, music and social activities under the theme “Imvunulo.”
Butsegetsege has gained widespread attention through viral social media videos showcasing his energetic and unconventional interpretation of Swati traditional dance. His performances have particularly attracted attention for his flexibility, distinctive footwork and animated stage presence.
His rise to prominence followed videos of him performing during a traditional event in South Africa. Among the songs associated with the viral performances are “Umtsakatsi abe munye eveni” and “Kuyokhala Butsegetsege Embhedzeni,” with the latter contributing to the stage name that has since become widely recognised online.
His growing popularity has subsequently resulted in bookings and media appearances in South Africa, with his upcoming Eswatini appearance marking another step in his cross-border cultural entertainment journey.
Kagogo Weekend is positioned as more than a music event, with organisers placing traditional culture at the centre of the experience. The programme includes Sibhaca, Lutsango, Imbali and music, giving attendees an opportunity to experience different aspects of Swati cultural expression in one setting.
The event will also feature activities aimed at creating a broader lifestyle experience, with food, socialising and entertainment expected to form part of the day’s programme. Recent reporting on the event indicates that a food market, flea-market stalls and a dedicated TikTok content creator corner will also form part of the showcase.
The event poster lists tickets at E100 for pre-sale general admission, increasing to E150 at the gate, while VIP pre-sale tickets are priced at E300. Kids’ tickets are available for E50, while cooler boxes are permitted at E50. Tickets are available online through MojaTicket.
With Butsegetsege’s viral dance moves expected to take centre stage, Kagogo Weekend could provide a platform where contemporary social-media culture meets traditional Swati heritage.
For many attendees, the attraction will not only be watching the South African performer but also participating in the cultural atmosphere and experiencing the traditional dances, attire and music highlighted by the organisers.
