Mbabane – Mbabane Highlanders have turned their attention toward rebuilding unity and strengthening supporter morale after recent disruptions by a small group of dissenting fans threatened to overshadow the club’s preparations for their upcoming clash against Ezulwini United.
Speaking on national radio, the club’s Public Relations Office (PRO) Khayelihle Karas Dlamini stressed that despite the noise from a handful of individuals, the broader Highlanders community remained fully behind the team. He emphasised that the core of the fan base continued to show loyalty, insisting that attempts to create division had not shaken the spirit within the camp.
According to Dlamini, the technical team has already regrouped after the 1–0 defeat to Sisonkhe, analysed their shortcomings, and is working diligently to respond with a stronger performance. He added that morale in the squad remains high, with players eager to redeem themselves on the pitch this weekend.
Concerns had emerged after reports that a small group of supporters, allegedly linked to internal unrest, had approached individuals formerly associated with the club, fuelling speculation of deeper rifts. The PRO dismissed these concerns, describing the commotion as the work of “only a few unknown people” seeking to disrupt the club’s progress.
In recent matches, a handful of fans were also seen cheering for opposing teams, further adding to the perception of discord within the Highlanders faithful. However, the club reiterated that such behaviour did not reflect the larger supporter base, which continues to stand firmly with the team.
As Highlanders prepare for a pivotal encounter at the Mavuso Sports Centre, officials have urged supporters to rally behind the squad, expressing confidence that unity in the stands will drive a strong response on the field.
