LOBAMBA – The Mbabane Swallows’ much-publicized deal with Mozambican investor Donaldo Birage Enterprise (DBE) has reportedly collapsed just two months after it was announced, leaving the capital city giants back at square one.
The agreement, initially set to run for three years, promised to ease the club’s financial struggles and saw the unveiling of DBE Sports Director Niczar Amade. However, sources indicate that the deal fell through because the investors failed to deliver on their commitments, derailing the short-lived partnership described by the Times of Eswatini as “short as a sneeze.”
This latest collapse highlights the dizzying cycle of ownership speculation that has enveloped the club in recent months. Before DBE, Swallows were reportedly in talks with South African businessman Eddie Modise from Bloemfontein, followed by links to two Durban tycoons. Niczar Amade’s appointment was believed to have connections to the same Durban businessmen.
The frequent changes in prospective ownership have placed the club’s administration under intense scrutiny, turning attention away from football and toward boardroom drama.
For the red-and-white faithful, the question remains, when will stability return, allowing their team to focus on matching ambitions on the field? For now, the brighter days promised by Amade are once again indefinitely postponed.
