MBABANE – From yesterday, Monday 20 October 2025, Eswatini residents can access and pay for various government services at 16 post offices across the country, following a new partnership between the Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) and the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC).
The initiative aims to bring government services closer to citizens, reducing travel to central Government Revenue Offices. The initial rollout covers Hhohho, Manzini, Shiselweni, and Lubombo regions, with plans to expand to all 35 post offices nationwide. Key participating locations include Mbabane, Swazi Plaza, Lobamba, Piggs Peak, Manzini, Matsapha, Malkerns, Mankayane, Hlatikhulu, Nhlangano, Hluthi, Simunye, Siteki, Tshaneni, Siphofaneni, and Matata.
Residents can pay for services from multiple ministries. These include trading and liquor licences, company registration under the Ministry of Commerce, and birth, marriage, and death certificates, passports, travel documents, national IDs, permits, and visas under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Services from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport available at post offices include drivers’ licences, professional driving permits, vehicle registrations and renewals, change of ownership, engine number updates, and vehicle cancellations. The full list of services is available on www.ers.org.sz.
EPTC Acting Managing Director Lungile Nxumalo said the partnership marks a milestone for Eswatini Post, which has expanded from mail and parcel services to offering money transfers, utility payments, and insurance collections. “This partnership ensures that no Liswati is left behind in accessing key services,” Nxumalo said.
ERS Commissioner General Brightwell Nkambule explained the initiative is part of the Second Schedule of the Revenue Act of 2008, centralising revenue collection while allowing line ministries to maintain administrative roles. “Phase II begins with 16 post offices, and more sites will be added progressively,” Nkambule said, recalling that Phase I, launched in April 2024, included collection of trading licence and company registration fees.
The partnership also aligns with ERS’s digital transformation, which has improved its Net Promoter Score from 6.7% in March 2022 to 77% in March 2025. Officials say the rollout will save rural residents time and money, enhance revenue compliance, and support Eswatini’s digital government objectives.
