ULUNDI – The much-anticipated Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup 2025 has been postponed to Sunday, 16 November 2025. The football tournament, which was scheduled for this Saturday at the Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium, was rescheduled following a request from the four participating clubs.
The Zululand District Municipality, which organises the event in collaboration with the clubs, confirmed the postponement on 6 October. The decision came after teams cited player injuries and their upcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) fixtures on the weekend of 18–19 October.
Zululand District Mayor, Councillor Michael Khumalo, said the decision was made in consultation with club owners Dr Kaizer Motaung, Mr Derrick Shiba, Mr Jabulani Buthelezi and Mr Sandile Zungu. He thanked all teams for their cooperation in agreeing to the new date, noting that the change was necessary to ensure the competition maintains its quality and fairness.
The tournament, which honours the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, will still be held at the Prince Mangosuthu Regional Stadium in Ulundi. The Municipality assured fans that all previously purchased tickets remain valid for the new date. Updated details on the fixture schedule, entertainment line-up and other logistics will be announced soon.
Although football fans will wait a bit longer for the matches, the weekend will not be without excitement. The Princess Phumzile Buthelezi Rural Horse Race and Agricultural Show Extravaganza will continue as planned on Sunday, 12 October 2025, at Entendeka in Ulundi. The event will feature horse races, agricultural exhibitions and live performances from local artists, with free entry for all community members.
