Mbabane – The Seventh-day Adventist Church is commemorating Pathfinder Scarf Week this week, celebrating the values, unity, and service of the Pathfinder ministry. The scarf, worn by members aged 10 to 16, represents faith, discipline, and commitment to service.
The program guides young people through spiritual growth, leadership development, community service, and skill-building activities such as camping, nature studies, and vocational training. With nearly two million members worldwide, Pathfinders are taught purity, kindness, truthfulness, and service to God and humanity.
Siphelele Mpungose, Vice-Chairperson of Pathfinders at the Eswatini Conference, said the scarf serves as a symbol of identity and mission. “The Pathfinder scarf represents our identity as young Christians committed to service and moral integrity. Scarf Week reminds us to carry values of leadership, responsibility, and faith wherever we go,” Mpungose said.
During the week, Pathfinders are encouraged to wear their scarves at schools, workplaces, and community events. Families and congregations use the observance to reflect on guiding young people toward positive values and lifelong service.
The week culminates on World Pathfinder Day, 20 September 2025, under the theme “Pathfinders on Purpose,” with special services, singing, preaching, and community projects across Eswatini.
