NHLANGANO – The highly anticipated Shiselweni Arts Festival is set to bring a vibrant two-day celebration of arts and culture to the Shiselweni region on August 8th and 9th, and organizers are thrilled to announce a major addition to its star-studded lineup: the critically acclaimed “Mahlaba The Street Movie.”
The film, which enjoyed a successful and sold-out run last month in the Manzini-Mbabane corridor, will now be screened at Evelyn Baring High School in Nhlangano. Audiences will have two opportunities to catch the cinematic experience: on Friday, August 8th at 3:00 PM and Saturday, August 9th at 2:00 PM.
National Council of Arts and Culture Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stanley Dlamini expressed his delight at the inclusion.
“As the public may recall, ‘Mahlaba The Street Movie’ had an amazing sold-out run last month, and the experience was truly exceptional. We saw it necessary for those not within the Manzini and Mbabane corridor to have the opportunity to experience ‘Mahlaba The Movie’ right in their backyard. This is a vital part of our mandate to take the arts to the people and level the playing field for all Emaswati.”
“Mahlaba The Movie” boasts an impressive cast, featuring both phenomenal local talent and well-known South African actors who bring significant experience to the production. Its addition is expected to significantly boost the festival’s appeal and cater to the diverse audience the organisers aim to attract.
The festival promises a packed schedule of events. Friday, August 8th, will feature activities at the park from 10:00 AM until late, showcasing captivating performances by school dance groups, drama clubs, and music ensembles. Saturday, August 9th, will kick off with a vibrant street festival at the Shoprite complex, where stages will host Maskandi, Hip Hop, Afro Pop, and Poetry artists. The evening will culminate in a grand Gospel Festival at Bethsida Church, showcasing the rich gospel talent of Shiselweni artists.
This festival also serves as a crucial activation for the recently launched National Gospel Music Awards (NGMA), which saw VIP guests and corporate representatives attend its successful launch at The George Hotel. Makhabane, the NGMA Awards PRO, extended an invitation to all gospel artists. “The call for nominations has officially opened! Talented artists can now visit the National Gospel Music Awards social media pages to access entry forms and find more details. We encourage the gospel community to seize this opportunity and be celebrated.”
Nominations for the National Gospel Music Awards are officially open and will close on August 25th.
