MANZINI- For years, Lindelwa Mafa has dedicated herself to amplifying the voices of Eswatini’s creatives. Now, that commitment is receiving recognition beyond the country’s borders after South African commercial radio station RISE FM honoured her for her contribution to the arts and entertainment industry.
The recognition, presented on Thursday, highlights the growing regional impact of a woman whose career has been built on championing local talent, preserving cultural identity and creating opportunities for artists to thrive.
Mafa, affectionately known as “Lindz,” has become one of Eswatini’s most influential entertainment figures through her work in broadcasting, acting and arts leadership. Her latest recognition comes shortly after she made history by becoming the first woman to be appointed Chairperson of the Eswatini Music Association (SWAMA), a milestone widely viewed as a breakthrough for women in the country’s creative sector.
While many know her as the face behind the popular entertainment programme Stargaze on EBIS2 FM, industry players say her greatest contribution lies in her unwavering support of emerging talent. Over the years, she has used her platforms to introduce audiences to musicians, comedians and cultural practitioners who later became household names.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Mafa described the recognition as both humbling and motivating.
“My passion has always been to uplift local creatives and tell our stories authentically. This recognition encourages me to continue advocating for the arts in Eswatini and beyond,” she said.
RISE FM Station Manager Makhosi Khoza said the recognition was a celebration of a leader whose work continues to inspire creatives across the region.
“Her dedication to developing talent and promoting culture aligns with our vision of empowering voices that shape communities and industries,” said Khoza.
The award also reflects strengthening cultural ties between Eswatini and South Africa. Under Khoza’s leadership, the Mpumalanga-based station has increasingly embraced regional collaborations aimed at promoting African storytelling and artistic development.
For many in the creative industry, the honour serves as confirmation that Mafa’s influence extends far beyond radio and television. It is a recognition of a career spent opening doors for others and ensuring Eswatini’s artistic voices are heard on larger platforms.
As regional partnerships within the arts continue to grow, Mafa’s recognition by RISE FM stands as a reminder that those who invest in developing talent often leave the most enduring legacy.
