MBABANE- Poetry, purpose and community impact will come together when Poetry Has a Heart 2026 returns on 26 September 2026 at Alliance Française de Mbabane, with celebrated poet and creative Purple Lotus (Selusiwe Matsebula) announced as the official Master of Ceremonies.
Organisers say Purple Lotus will bring her signature energy, passion and captivating stage presence to an event that has grown beyond a poetry showcase into a movement dedicated to inspiring positive social change through the arts.
This year’s edition carries an even deeper purpose through a partnership with Ligcabho Lakhe, which aims to collect sanitary pads for girls in need. The initiative seeks to ensure that no girl misses school, opportunities or confidence because she lacks access to menstrual hygiene products.
According to the organisers, every ticket purchased, every contribution made and every social media share will help support the sanitary pad drive, allowing attendees to enjoy an afternoon of spoken word while making a meaningful difference in the lives of young girls.
Held under the theme of using poetry to inspire compassion and action, the event encourages the community to embrace art as a tool for empowerment and giving back.
Poetry Has a Heart 2026 promises an inspiring lineup of performances, storytelling and creative expression that celebrates the transformative power of words while highlighting the importance of collective responsibility.
The event will take place from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with tickets selling for E100.
Organisers are inviting poetry lovers, artists, supporters and members of the public to attend, describing the gathering as more than an entertainment experience but an opportunity to become part of a cause that uplifts the girl child and strengthens the community.
The initiative is supported by partners including Ikleri Store, Ludziwo Foundation, Tala Group, OGF Movement and Junokuhle, whose collaboration reflects a shared commitment to using creativity and community partnerships to drive lasting social impact.
