MBABANE – Young Buffaloes Ladies FC defender Welile ‘Wewe’ Ndwandwe has been named the top performer in the 2024/25 Eswatini Women’s League season, walking away with the coveted Player of the Season award.
The honour was presented during the Eswatini Women Football Association’s end-of-season awards ceremony, where Ndwandwe also collected the April Player of the Month title.
Her recognition comes after a stellar run that saw her not only commanding the backline with consistency but also finding the net on several occasions. She received E2 000 in prize money along with a trophy for her April accolade.
Speaking shortly after receiving her honours, the soft-spoken defender credited her coaches at Young Buffaloes for helping shape her game and confidence. “Their support has kept me going and made me believe I can do more,” she said.
Ndwandwe’s ambitions stretch beyond local football. She revealed her intention to pursue opportunities outside the country and hopes to make a mark on the international stage.
