EZULWINI – The Chief Police Information and Communications Officer (PICO) Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati has said that the police have not adopted a ‘shoot to kill’ operation as a response to crime.
This follows the updates from Vilakati’s desk of the shooting of four suspects on the run.
Nhlanhla Steenkamp, Jabulani Bhembe and Mbongeni Bhembe were allegedly shot in the head, according to sources. The fourth suspect was shot and killed around Ezulwini.
Information from Vilane is that the first three suspects were shot dead around Matsapha with their traces of crimes left at Ezulwini.
The police confirmed that they were wanted for a string of armed robberies, theft and attempted murder, with an initial ‘most wanted’ notice from the police issued on April 26.
Vilakati said the suspects were found with pistils, live rounds and some of the items from the robberies.
She also said that relatives of the deceased suspects are expected to be briefed by the police following the incidents.
