Woe unto those who will brew or distribute alcohol – NATCOM

Mbabane: National Commissioner of Police William Tsintsibala Dlamini has put his of foot down concerning alcohol brewing and distribution.

Speaking during a press briefing held at Cabinet offices on Friday, alongside the Minister of Health and Minister of Natural Resources and Energy where they were giving update on COVID-19. NATCOMM emphasized that brewing alcohol is still prohibited in the country and anyone found doing so, either is traditional beer or any alcoholic drinks will be arrested and be charged by contravening COVID-19 regulations.

Dlamini also emphasized that from Monday, police will be enforcing security on roads to minimize unnecessary movements. He said passengers would be questioned about their various destinations and if reasons are not satisfactory, they will be turned back. Police will increase visibility in all the country roads together with other security forces.

NATCOMM also highlighted on spread of fake news about the pandemic and also about the country’s authorities. “The law will take take it coarse on those people who spread fake news about the pandemic and about the country’s authorities. Even if one can hide wherever they are but the law will always reach them and will be apprehended” said Dlamini.

On another note Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi has said the government is working on renovating hospitals to be ready for admission of covid-19 patients. Nkosi said government will add more beds at the hospitals including the Lubombo Referral hospital where patients are currently admitted. Nkosi said the government will continue training all health workers and testing them regularly to make sure they are equipped to continue with their tremendous job they are doing on the ground.

Nkosi went on to explain that the country will be receiving more emaSwati who will be coming back as more emaSwati would be repatriated from outside the country. This includes emaSwati students studying abroad and those residing in foreign countries like South Africa. Nkosi emphasized that upon arrival all of them will be quarantined for the mandatory 14 days.

Minister of Natural Resources and Energy Peter Bhembe delivered good news about distribution of clean water to most parts of the country including the most destitute areas like Matsanjeni and Dvokolwako to name but a few. Bhembe explained that 803 000 liters of water have been delivered countrywide. The Ministry of health is still waiting for results of the COVID-19 tests conducted today. Feedback will be communicated as the day goes by.
