Mahlanya – IRDM College has submitted six new academic programmes to the Eswatini Higher Education Council (ESHEC) for registration, a move that could expand higher education opportunities in fields ranging from forensic investigations to retail management.
The institution announced that it has applied for registration of a Diploma in Retail Management, Diploma in Forensic Investigation and Security Management, Diploma in Forensic Auditing and Accounting, Diploma in Psychosocial Counselling, Diploma in Customer Experience Management and a Foundation Certificate in Business.
According to the college, the proposed programmes were developed in response to skills gaps identified in the country’s labour market and are intended to align with local economic and employment needs.
IRDM Director Dr Oliver Museka said the programmes were developed with a focus on producing skilled and employable graduates capable of meeting the demands of the modern workplace.
The college said the programmes cover a broad range of sectors, including security, law enforcement, financial governance, business, retail and counselling services. It stated that the forensic investigation and forensic auditing programmes respond to demand for trained professionals in security and financial oversight, while the customer experience and business programmes are intended to provide pathways for school leavers entering the service economy.
IRDM also indicated that the psychosocial counselling programme was developed to address a shortage of qualified counselling professionals in the country.
Registrar T. Ndlangamandla said the institution had invested resources in developing qualifications that meet regulatory standards and labour market expectations.
The submissions come as the college seeks to expand its academic offerings beyond its existing programmes in Business Studies, Security Management and Psychosocial Counselling, as well as several approved short courses.
Founded in 2013 and based in Mahlanya, IRDM says it has awarded more than 100 scholarships to emaSwati students over the past decade.
The institution said it will continue engaging ESHEC during the registration process and will announce enrolment dates should the programmes receive approval.
