Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla has directed the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) to urgently build a proper house for 72-year-old Mkhulu Magele Shabangu of Nkwene.
The directive followed a visit to Shabangu’s homestead earlier today, where the DPM, joined by Tinkhundla Administration and Development Minister Sikhumbuzo Dlamini, witnessed the dilapidated condition of his wooden house.

Shabangu, who lives with his 15-year-old son, had earlier made a public appeal for help during a broadcast on Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS). He described how the roof leaks so badly that buckets are needed to catch the rain, while large holes in the walls are covered with plastic sheeting.
The DPM, after touring the unsafe structure, instructed officials to act before the house collapses completely and endangers the lives of the elderly man and his child.
