Mbabane: As health care systems around the world are strained to the point of collapse; Eswatini continues to announce an increase in the number of confirmed cases which now stands at 16. When the Minister of Health Lizzy Nkosi announced the 15th confirmed case she noted that it has no travel history to any country outside of the Kingdom.

Speaking during the official press release where gave the latest update on the coronavirus cases in the country she said the 15th case raised a concern that the country might be headed for a new case definition where local transmissions could be the main focus.

Except for the 15th case all the others showed contacts with a travel history mainly from South Africa.

The minister mentioned that the tracing team is closely following the case, all to unearth more details, which will render the ministry coming to the conclusion if whether or not Eswatini will assume a new case definition.

She mentioned that as a ministry they’d face difficulties in determining case histories if they will be without knowing what potential COVID-19 contacts they encountered.

The minister said she is currently waiting for a report from the contact tracing team which will determine either there is local transmission or not. Currently, the Kingdom has recorded 16 cases, which includes the most recent case of a 25 year old woman from the Hhohho region. The country has 8 recoveries and no deaths.
