Among the issues discussed were ways in which collaboration can be strengthened in issues of mutual interest including high performance and anti-doping education as well as the upcoming Olympic Games amongst others.

Minister Bulunga commended the affiliates for electing a Board that is highly representative of the wider sport movement and most importantly, for electing a considerable number of two (2) women into the Board.

He said as Government, they continue to strongly advocate for the incusing of women in leadership positions. “EOCGA is one of our Ministry’s biggest partners in terms of sport development and indeed high performance. Moreover, the values of Olympism: excellence, friendship and respect are perfectly aligned with how we view sport as a Ministry thus this meeting has been critical in underlining our own commitment to working together with EOCGA to achieve our shared goals,” said Bulunga.

EOCGA President Adam Mthethwa said they were honoured to have met the Minister today (Thursday). “We believe meeting the Minister is a good start for us as a new Board.”

Mthethwa said they were encouraged by the issues touched by the Minister when addressing the meeting especially on issues of the Cooperation Agreement that governs their relationship with the Eswatini Sports and Recreational Council (ESRC).

He added that the existence of the Board was for the benefit of athletes and there was a need to empower their respective associations to achieve shared goals.
