Aim

The awards are meant to celebrate local gospel music artists and their achievements.  It is meant to recognize those that have contributed to the gospel music industry over the years. According to LEGMA the aim is to put to spotlight and honor gospel artists for their labor and industry dedication in spreading the message of Jesus Christ through Gospel music.

Postponed

The LEMA Awards were postponed on November 4, 2020 with immediate effect, due to a management conflict that erupted at Metropolitan Church where the awards were set to take place on November 7, 2020.

LEGMA public relations officer Nhlanhla Mathunjwa was quoted saying, “the organizing committee was working hard to find another venue, and thus a date and venue will be revealed as soon as possible.”

It is worth noting that the awards will be the first black carpet presentation. The theme of the carpet presentation will be ‘Black and Gold; Glitz in Black’, and the awards presentation will be of international standards.

Elaborating on the theme Mathunjwa was earlier quoted saying, by have such a theme they want to portray such power and elegance and soften the effect of COVID-19, not just to the art industry but to everyone who will come, join and be part of the awards either physical or virtual.

“Black stimulates perspective and depth, and provides protection from external emotional stress by absorbing all negative energies”.
