The highly anticipated homecoming and kit unveiling, held at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground, attracted club officials, players, patrons and scores of supporters who came out to celebrate the start of a new chapter for the capital city giants.
The celebrations extended beyond the venue, with convoys of cars and buses moving through the streets of Mbabane as supporters waved, ululated and celebrated the club. The occasion took on the feel of a football carnival, reflecting the strong connection between Highlanders and its supporters.
One of the major highlights of the event was the unveiling of three new playing kits for the 2026/27 season. Most significantly, the club brought back its traditional black-and-white colours after a period in which the team had moved away from its familiar strip.
Mkhize said the return of the black and white was aimed at promoting unity within the club and reconnecting the team with its supporters.
“We are happy to unveil our three kits that we will use in the upcoming season,” Mkhize said”, . She added that the traditional colors would help unite the club as a family.
The return of the colors has also been described by the club as more than simply a change in the playing kit. It represents a return to the heritage, identity and pride associated with Highlanders.
The spectacular launch comes as Mkhize continues to shape the club since taking over its presidency. She was unveiled as president in 2025, with the club subsequently adopting the Mbabane Highlanders AM name.
With the 2026/27 campaign now underway, the elaborate launch has set the tone for what promises to be an ambitious season.
For Highlanders supporters, however, the significance of the occasion went beyond the glamour. The return of the black-and-white strip provided an emotional link to the club’s history, while the massive turnout demonstrated that the Black Bull continues to command a passionate following in the capital city.
Mkhize’s latest spectacle has therefore combined entertainment, tradition and football ambition, giving Highlanders AM a colorful start as it seeks to build on last season’s progress and compete strongly in the new campaign.
