LUDZIDZINI – His Majesty King Mswati III has commended Unyazi Lwezulu and members of the Nazareth Baptist Church for their continued commitment to bringing annual prayer services to Eswatini, saying their presence strengthens the faith of the nation and contributes to its spiritual well-being.
The King made the remarks at Ludzidzini Royal Residence during the church’s Umgidi celebrations, attended by thousands of congregants from across Eswatini and neighbouring countries.
The members gathered at Ludzidzini for the colourful Umgidi celebrations, which featured worship, traditional songs and cultural performances in the presence of Their Majesties.
Addressing the gathering, His Majesty said it was important for people to associate themselves with those who fear God, as such relationships help strengthen and revive faith.
“It is very important for one to associate himself or herself with people who fear the Lord. When we see Lunyazi and the Nazareth Baptist Church bringing prayer services in Eswatini, we feel revived because we know that when we worship together with them, our faith is strengthened,” he said.
The King emphasized the transformative power of faith, saying those who draw closer to God experience profound changes in their lives.
“When you come closer to God, a lot happens in your life. A person who brings himself or herself closer to God has his or her life transformed. With God, a person gets transformed, not reformed. There is a difference,” he said.
To illustrate his message, His Majesty referred to the biblical account of the widow whose life was changed after seeking divine intervention during a time of hardship.
He recounted how the woman, burdened by debt and left to care for her two sons, turned to the prophet Elijah for help and ultimately experienced a transformation in her circumstances.
The King said life often presents challenges that test a person’s resilience and faith, but stressed the importance of remaining steadfast in God’s presence during difficult times.
“There are situations in life that happen to test one’s strength. It is important to continue staying in the presence of the Lord during those trying times,” he said.
According to the King, the widow’s decision to seek guidance from the prophet demonstrated the importance of associating with people of faith.
He noted that while divine assistance is available, individuals must also take responsibility for improving their situations.
“If a person wants change or help, that person must start working on himself or herself. Then God will bless,” he said.
His Majesty further stated that nations that fear God enjoy blessings and prosperity, adding that Eswatini remains grateful for the prayers offered by the Nazareth Baptist Church.
“A country that fears the Lord is a blessed nation. We are grateful for the church to come together and worship with us,” he said.
The King thanked Unyazi Lwezulu for leading annual prayer activities in the country. He said he had learned that church members had travelled throughout all regions of Eswatini conducting prayer services, an effort he described as beneficial to the nation..
