Mbabane – Five men are expected to appear before the Matsapha Circuit Court today in connection with the alleged theft of Hall’s sweets and Chappies worth E1.8 million from a warehouse in Matsapha.

The suspects, aged 30, 34, 35, 38 and 41, were arrested by Matsapha Police after investigations into the disappearance of the confectionery stock. They are from Mankayane, Manzini, Nhlambeni and Zombodze.

According to police, the case was reported on July 11 by a 54-year-old man from Mhlaleni, who discovered that stock valued at E1.8 million had gone missing from the warehouse.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the theft is believed to have taken place over several months, between January and June this year.
