New Delhi – The Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, is leading a delegation to India on an electric mobility best practices mission. Prince Lokhekhela had also attended the eighth session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly in New Delhi, India which ran from October 27 – 30.

The prince’s delegation recently met with Dr Hanif Qureshi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, along with senior officials. They shared insights into India’s innovations in clean transport technologies, including hydrogen- and ethanol-powered trains.

The meeting focused on strengthening India–Eswatini collaboration in the automobile sector, electric mobility, and decarbonisation, with particular emphasis on technology, skill development, investment opportunities, and joint ventures.

The visit, facilitated by consultants Fichtner Engineers (India) and Computronics Systems (Eswatini), forms part of the country’s preparations for developing a national mobility policy aimed at promoting climate resilience and sustainable development.

The Eswatini delegation also met with the commissioner of the Delhi Transport Department and her team, who shared India’s policy framework and operational experience in transitioning to electric vehicles.

The delegation also visited Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a government-owned company under India’s Ministry of Power, which showcased its bulk procurement model for electric buses, a system that has enabled cost reductions and efficiency gains. CESL, which has recently exported electric buses to Mauritius, advised Eswatini to prepare for higher electricity demand and to integrate renewable energy sources such as solar to support the transition.
