MACETJENI — April 16, 2025 — A 72-year-old man who had been living in a collapsing mud-and-stick house has received a newly built home, thanks to the intervention of Her Majesty Indlovukazi. The official handover took place on Wednesday, led by Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla in the Macetjeni area.

Albert Majahangwane Magongo, affectionately known as Mkhulu Magongo, had long accepted his life in hardship—until his situation reached the Ludzidzini Royal Residence through the generosity of Chief Mshengu’s wife, who regularly provided him with food parcels. Moved by his living conditions, Ntombi Matse, emissary to Her Majesty Indlovukazi, brought the matter to the Queen Mother’s attention.

Construction of the new home was coordinated by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), with support from the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (USDF), who provided technical assistance and labour.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Mkhulu Magongo thanked Her Majesty for restoring dignity to his life and praised the local chief for his ongoing support.

Speaking at the handover, DPM Dladla commended Their Majesties for their unwavering concern for vulnerable citizens and called on communities to adopt the spirit of collective care. “Let us not turn a blind eye while others suffer,” she said, referencing His Majesty’s Speech from the Throne that called for the elimination of inadequate housing across the kingdom.
