Mbabane-The Inyatsi Construction Group Holdings (Pty) Ltd has suspended its operations for a week following continued terrorism attacks on its property and heavy plant machinery. Since the beginning of the year. The company has been subjected to no less than three attacks at different locations countrywide.

In a media briefing, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Sandile Mhlanga said “for purposes of ensuring safety for our employees the company has decided to suspend operations for a week. This will have an impact on the day-to-day business of the company but we have to ensure that the employees and assets of the company are safe. The financial impact of the suspension for the week will cost the company E 50 million.”

Mhlanga also informed the media that following the previous two attacks that the company has been subjected to, the total financial impact has been E 65 million. The attacks have also had an impact on the company’s employees in that six machine operators have had to retrenched as the equipment they operated has been burned. Further to this, the six learner operators who were being upskilled and trained also had to be retrenched.

The CEO also announced a proactive measure that the company is taking towards addressing the attacks. “The company will put up a reward of E 500 thousand to anybody who assist it in apprehending and successfully prosecuting any of the perpetrators of the arson attacks on the property, staff and machinery.”
