Mhlume: We only saw and heard from him during electoral campaigns, that was the end of it. “A ghost is leading us,” these were sentiments shared by Mhlume Inkhundla residents, citing their unhappiness with the nowhere to be found Member of Parliament (MP) Victor Malambe.

Residents decry lack of services. According to them, the honorable Mp seems to be Absent Without Official Notice (AWON) from them. Malambe is said to be always absent at Inkhundla offices.

Some residents who asked this reporter to write this article hoping it might touch the Mp so he could resurface and deliver on his promises, ascertained to which Malambe is not known where he is and the situation has led to the constituency lacking behind in terms of development as there is no one senior like the MP whom they can register their concerns and thoughts on developmental issues.

Other residents also allege that at some point they did try to contact and locate Malambe, but they were shocked when at one point he told them the reason he is in parliament is because of his money. He is allegedly insisting that he was elected by his money nothing else.

One Mnotfo Malambe, who happens to be a relative to the legislator, when reached on the whereabouts of his relative, said he also is confused where the Mp is as he last saw him during campaigning days when he came to slaughter a goat for the neighbors. Mnotfo admitted that many residents are searching the Mp’s whereabouts and it pains them as well as it paints bad precedence to his family name.

He highlighted the situation has and continues to damage them as a family as they also played a pivotal role in convincing the community to accept and vote for him, only to be left with an egg split on their faces.

“Residents are blaming us for his disappearance and failure to deliver on his promises. We fought and garnered support for him to cruise to parliament only to be disappointed” Concluded Mnotfo.

The Mp is said to have promised to deliver better road infrastructure, agricultural development of a nearby ranch, opening of a public road to link Tambankulu estate and Mafucula amongst other promises to which he hasn't delivered even a single of.

One Bibo Shabangu who is Bucopho at Vuvulane working close with the Mp, when contacted about the Mp’s whereabouts refused to commit as he asked to say nothing because the questions are suited for the Mp himself to deal with. “I am not sure of where the Mp is, but l can’t answer questions on his behalf. Please contact him for those questions” emphasized Shabangu.

When called for comment, the legislature dropped the call upon hearing the call was from a news reporter. It is worth noting Malambe’s residential home is Mayiwane under Hhohho region, his only link with Mhlume inkhundla is his business interests at Roya Eswatini Sugar Corporation hence he was allowed to campaign and be elected under Mhlume on that business aspect.
