Mbabane – The Government through the DPM’s office has distributed livelihood support equipment valued at more than E128 000 to vulnerable citizens in an effort to help them establish income-generating activities and improve their living conditions.
The handover was conducted on June 5, 2026, at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office in Mbabane, where Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla presented the equipment to selected beneficiaries under a government support programme targeting vulnerable households, including child-headed families.
The equipment includes tools intended to enable beneficiaries to start or expand small businesses across different sectors. The beneficiaries and their allocations are as follows: Matse Sabelo received music instruments; Likhono Lelingumnotfo received an industrial straight sewing machine, industrial overlocker machine and domestic sewing machines; Magagula Themba received a chainsaw and grinder; Phiwayinkhosi Gumbi and Shabangu Mthobisi each received a heavy-duty grass cutter, safety pants, helmet and protective gloves; and Babe Nhlabatsi received a mechanic’s toolbox.
Speaking at the handover, Dladla said the initiative is part of government’s efforts to support vulnerable households and promote self-reliance. She said the resources provided would enable beneficiaries to generate income, support their families and improve their livelihoods.
The funds used to procure the equipment were allocated through the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, under government support programmes for vulnerable citizens across the country, according to officials.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the assistance, saying the equipment would help them start and sustain businesses, create employment opportunities for themselves and improve their economic circumstances.
The intervention forms part of broader social protection efforts under the Government of Eswatini to support vulnerable groups with practical tools for economic participation and long-term self-reliance.
